Wigan Athletic vs Plymouth Argyle

The Pilgrims are playing their penultimate match of the regular season against League One leaders Wigan Athletic.

There is a lot at stake for both Wigan Athletic and Plymouth Argyle when they meet at the DW Stadium this afternoon.

Table-topping Wigan know that a win against the Pilgrims would clinch promotion back to the Championship.

Leam Richardson’s Latics would also be crowned as League One champions if second-placed Rotherham United failed to beat Oxford United at the New York Stadium.

However, there is plenty for Argyle to play for in the penultimate match of their excellent 2021/22 league campaign.

A victory for the Pilgrims over Wigan and a defeat for sixth-placed Wycombe Wanderers at home to Sheffield Wednesday today would see Steven Schumacher’s side secure a play-off place.

Argyle sold around 1,700 tickets in advance of the match so there will be a large contingent of the Green Army cheering their side on.
